The bike sharing services’ use case had the objective to research on women’s needs as users of bike sharing services and increase the percentage of women using them, as well as support the development of policies for the management of bike sharing fleets in a more gender-equitable way.
Convenience, harassment, abuse from other road users, travelling with children, cost, access, logistics, knowledge and experience are common barriers to cycling and bicycle-sharing fleets’ usage by women. This DIAMOND’s use case studied the factors that influence women’s acceptability and usage of bike sharing services.
