The DIAMOND Project has been represented at the SSPCR 2019 – Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions Conference in Bolzano, Italy, from 9th-13th December 2019. This was the 3rd edition of the Conference, which focused on sustainable and inclusive urban planning strategies towards Smart Cities.
In this Conference, DIAMOND has participated in Thematic Track 2 – Session 2.1 ‘Urban (Big) Data: Challenges for Information Retrieval and Knowledge Discovery’.
The DIAMOND team members Dr Andrea Gorrini – Transport Research Consultant at Systematica and Gregorio Olivetti – Business Developer Manager at Systematica, have presented DIAMOND’s work under the title ‘Seeking Fair Inclusion of Women in Public Transport Using Urban (big) Data: The Case of H2020 DIAMOND Project’.
The presentation talked about the overall methodological approach of the DIAMOND project, with particular reference to innovative research activities based on the analysis of large-scale structured open data to support the design of gender-equitable and inclusive transport systems. Within the objectives of the Use Case 1 ‘Public Transport Infrastructures – Railway’, this is based on the use of GIS-Geographic Information Systems for the analysis of geolocalized open data (territorial, socio-demographic and mobility data) and social media data from Twitter.
The DIAMOND team are delighted to have participated in such an informative and valuable Conference in Bolzano!
